PRODUCT TAGS

HTML is made up of clear, specific tags—which means on-page optimization is a fairly straightforward endeavor.

In short, tags are a means of defining and differentiating data. When we strip all the fancy graphic design away, the internet is made up of basic markup that renders headlines as big, paragraphs as small, and so on and on for every type of formatting.

This simple language makes it so that search engines can understand what each tag means, while making it easy for humans to find what they’re looking for on a page. It’s a win-win situation.

HOW TO ADD YOUR OWN META TITLE AND DESCRIPTION TAGS:

  • From the Nimbl Portal, under the STORE tab, click on MY SHOP to open the drop down and click on the SEO button.

  • A list will appear with TYPE: PRODUCT. (You can search to filter the search)

  • Click on the EDIT button of the product you want to CHANGE the TAGS.

  • It will be auto filled with your PRODUCT title and description. You can change it to include more keywords for SEO optimization.

(This will only change your title and description SEO tag, not the actual product title and description)

TITLE: recommend between 25 - 60 characters (60 max)

DESCRIPTION: recommended between 25 - 160 characters (160 max)

WHAT ARE PRODUCT TAGS?

  1. META TITLE TAGS

The title tag is the text displayed above the description of your page in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). Below is an example of TITLE TAGS that are used when searching for a Samsung 65-inch TV. The BLUE is the title displayed.

This tag plays an important role in SEO because it sets the tone for the type of content readers can expect to find. By definition, it is the title of each page and ideally, it should be as descriptive as possible. The more detailed you are, the better your SEO results will be.

When it comes to title tags, there are several best practices you should follow strictly:

  1. Endeavor to place your keywords early on in the title (without the end result being contrived).

  2. Refrain from ‘stuffing’ your titles full of keywords.

  3. Set unique title tags for each of your pages.

  4. Branding information (such as your website’s name) should appear at the end of your title tags, if at all.

  5. Keep your tags between 55–60 characters long, or they might not display in their entirety on SERPs.

2. META DESCRIPTION TAG

The description tag is the description displayed in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). Below is an example of DESCRIPTION TAGS that are used when searching for a Samsung 65-inch TV. The description below the blue title , is the description displayed.
