ADDING VARIANTS
You add variants to a product that comes in more than one option. This includes it having several sizing options or that it might be available in different colors, etc.
What happens when you add variants:
It is one PRODUCT with multiple STOCK ITEMS.
WHEN TO ADD A VARIANT VS. ADDING A NEW PRODUCT?
There has to be similarities in the product to be classified as a variant:
NAME AND DESCRIPTION - the name and the description will be the same for all variants on one product.
CATEGORY AND SUBCATEGORY - the variants must fall within the same category and subcategory
SHIPPING WEIGHT - the weight for courier purposes has to be the same for all variants on one product.
If any of these are not the same, then you should add it as a new product and not a variant.
1. ADDING VARIANTS WHILE CREATING A NEW PRODUCT
SEE: ADDING A NEW PRODUCT
From the Nimbl Portal, under the STORE tab, click on PRODUCTS to open the drop down and click on the ADD A PRODUCT button.
The third tab is INVENTORY.
Under variants, TICK the box to confirm the product has variants.
Now you can start adding variants. CHOOSE an option and then ADD the variants (use COMMA to separate).
If your product has more than 1 variant click on the ADD ANOTHER OPTION button and proceed to add the new variant.
As you add variants, a preview list will show on the bottom so that you can be sure it is correct.
You can remove a variant, if it is incorrect, by clicking on the X.
You can add a third variant option (maximum allowed per product). Click on the ADD ANOTHER OPTION and proceed to add variants.
You can also remove the last option should it be incorrect. Click on the REMOVE LAST OPTION button. NOTE: You can only remove the last option, so to remove the first option you will need to remove the third and second option (if applicable).
The price is automatically set as Parent Product Price (set under the PRICING tab).
If your variant prices are the same, you can leave the pricing as is. Pricing will stay the same on website as customers choose different variants.
If your variant prices differ, you can change the pricing.
You can also add a SKU per variant. This is OPTIONAL. SKU is the code that identifies the product within your business. For effective tracking and sales reporting, each SKU needs to be unique.
If you are happy with all your variants, click on the NEXT button to continue setting up your new product.

NB!! If the product has variants, the variants will be duplicated as well. This means you will have to edit the variants if they differ, have less/more variants or if their SKU needs to change.
