Overview
Assigning products to categories makes them visible in your store's category pages and helps customers find them through navigation.
How to Assign a Product to a Category
- Go to Products > Overview in the left menu
- Click on the product you want to assign
- In the product edit page, find the Category section
- Select the appropriate category (or categories) for this product
- Save the product
Assigning Multiple Categories
A product can be assigned to more than one category. This is useful for products that fit into multiple sections of your store.
Checking Category Assignments
On the Products > Categories page, you can see how many products are assigned to each category. Click on a category to see which products are in it.
Tips
- Assign each product to the most specific and relevant category
- If a product fits multiple categories, add it to all relevant ones
- Avoid overly broad categories that make browsing difficult
Proper category assignment is essential for your store's navigation to work correctly. Unassigned products may still appear in your store but won't show up in category browsing.
